Larry Convey, 79, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, at his home. A private service will be held at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be
noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Following the continued guidance from officials, physical distancing must be practiced, which requires a limited number of people allowed into the visitation at one time. The use of face masks or shields is required. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia; daughter, Lisa (Rick) Hancox of Cedar Rapids, granddaughters, Sydney Hancox and Bayley Hancox of Cedar Rapids; brother, George "Bill" Convey of Cedar Rapids; brother, James Convey of Cedar Rapids; sister, Shirley Turnbull of Lisbon; sister-in-law, Carol Novotny of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Mary Duncan of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla.; sister-in-law, Mildred (Harold) Finnell of Titusville, Fla.; along with several nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry Convey was born on Nov. 15, 1941, to George and Bessie Convey (Blado) in Cedar Rapids. Larry married Patricia Novotny on May 6, 1967, and was drafted May 17, 1967, into the U.S. Army. He served in Vietnam until 1969, earning a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Larry worked at Lefebure for 25 years and then went on to work for the Cedar Rapids School District. He enjoyed NASCAR, going to the casino and, most importantly, spending time with his family. Larry will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved him.
