EVERETT E. MOORE Walker
Everett E. Moore, 77, of Walker, Iowa, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point, Iowa. A funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Walker. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing. Everett was delivered by a midwife on March 15, 1943, in Urbana, Iowa, the son of Theresa (Wood) Schmickle and Fred Moore Sr. He was united in marriage to Margaret Bach on July 13, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker. Everett was the owner and operator of Moore's Locker in Walker for over 40 years. He was a member of the Walker Fire Department for 26 years and the Walker Lions Club for 50 years. Everett served on the Walker city council for four years, and was the mayor of Walker for 16 years. He was a board member for Blue Creek Ducks Unlimited and Iowa Meat Producers. Everett was also a member of the Linn County Cattlemen and Linn County Pork Producers, Whitetails and Pheasants Forever, Wild Turkey Federation, Walker Better Committee, Meals on Wheels, AAMP (American Association of Meat Processors), North Linn FFA and Vinton FFA. Survivors include his wife, Margaret; children, Joe (Anita) Moore, Judith (Rod) Jaschke and Jonathan (Jill) Moore; grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Brenna, Christian, Clark, Mary, Todd, Tyler, Kalina and McKenna; great-grandchildren, Michael, Mette, Justin and Joseph; siblings, James Moore, Lois Henry and Leo Schmickle. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Verl Schmickle; and sister, Patricia. Memorials may be directed to the family. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the University of Iowa Hospital, the Center Point Ambulance Rescue Crew, and the Walker Fire Department for their loving care of Everett.
