Obituary from the Wednesday October 20, 1971 edition of the Cedar Rapids Gazette from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Leslie H. Benfer, 83, of 235 Thirty-fifth street dive SE, died Tuesday following a sudden illness. Formerly of Vinton, he had been a Cedar Rapids resident 24 years. Born March 22, 1888, at Vinton, he was married to Ruth Engle Oct. 4, 1951, in Illinois.
Prior to retirement he was public relations counselor for Cedar Memorial cemetery. Mr. Benfer was a member of the Christian church in Vinton.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Don Benfer of Vinton; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Jackson of Cedar Rapids and Beverly Benfer of Iowa City; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Robert Phillips of Wesley United Methodist church of Vinton. Burial: Evergreen cemetery, Vinton. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial funeral home....
