Nixa, Mo.VivAnn "Vicki" K. Kenney, 81, of Nixa, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in
Springfield, Mo.
VivAnn was born Jan. 28, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Vivian Charles and Geraldine (Dragoo) Young. She married the love of her life, James H. Kenney, Oct. 27, 1956.
VivAnn worked at Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids as a circuit board assembler a few years but spent most of her life as a homemaker. She and James enjoyed boating and traveling with friends and family. Highlights were a trip to Alaska and many visits to Daytona Beach and Venice, Fla.
VivAnn and James were residents of Ottumwa, Iowa, from 1972 to 2001, then moved to Mountain Home, Ark., for retirement. After James' passing in 2009, VivAnn moved to Nixa, Mo., to be close to family. Through the years, VivAnn was a Sunday School teacher and active member of First Assembly of God in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, First Pentecostal A/G in Ottumwa, Iowa, and Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Mountain Home, Arka.
VivAnn is survived by four children and their families, Debra King of Nixa, Mo., Rodney (Tita) Kenney of Ottumwa, Iowa, Peggy (Tom) Collins of Ozark, Mo., and Bradley (Brenda) Kenney of Ottumwa, Iowa; six grandchildren, Christopher King of California, Kristina Hawley of Washington, Diana Jordan of Iowa, Jeff Kenney of Iowa, Chelsea Ware of Iowa and Thomas Collins of Maine; along with many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a brother, Keith (Marilyn) Young of Keller, Texas; and a former daughter-in-law, Martha West of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents; her cherished sister, Betty Decker; and her stepfather, Richard Hogan.
Burial was Friday, Jan. 15, at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A memorial gathering for family and friends is planned at Cedar Memorial in the spring/summer.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the Assemblies of God U.S. Missions in VivAnn's honor. Cards may be sent to Debra King, 702 South Carriage Crossing, Nixa, MO 65714.
