Mrs. Mary Van Dyke Died Last Saturday; Resident Since 1900
Mrs. Mary Agnes Van Dyke, a resident of Marion since the opening of this century, died Saturday, Jan. 9, at 12:50 p.m., at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Huddleston, 863 Sixth avenue, Marion, following a long illness.
She was born December 16, 1860, at Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Michael and Betsy DeMarce Beliel. She was married at Washington to Butler M. Van Dyke, who died in Marion Feb. 5, 1929. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Genie Groth of Minong, Wis., and Mrs. Nita Huddleston, Marion. One grandson, Fred Huddleston, jr., and a great granddaughter, Corrine Elinore Huddleston, also survive. Mr. Van Dyke was a railroad man, and the family moved here from Savanna in 1900. Mrs. Van Dyke was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at two o'clock from the Yocom chapel in Marion, with the Rev. C.V.R. DeJong, pastor of the Presbyterian church, in charge. Burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
