Kenneth (Matt) Keith Kimm, 91, died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Jan. 6, 2021, at the Belle Plaine Specialty Care Center in Belle Plaine. Kenneth was born on Jan. 10, 1929, in Blairstown. His parents were Porter and Esther (Schaffer) Kimm. Kenneth married Betty J. Fisher on Dec. 22, 1954. From the marriage they had four sons and one daughter. They were later divorced. Kenneth was an active member of the American Legion Kirby Post in Blairstown, where he served a term as commander. He was also a member of the all-volunteer fire department of Blairstown for over 20 years. He loved to go fishing and play rolle bolle. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army from 1950-52 during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He was employed by the Blairstown Grain Co. and for Kimm and Son Ready Mix of Blairstown until his retirement at age 65. Kenneth is survived by his children, Richard H. Kimm (Ruth) of rural Atkins, Iowa, Chris J. Kimm (Faye) of rural Blairstown, Iowa, Laurie E. Knox (Kevin) of rural Grinnell, Iowa, and Jerry A. Kimm (Lisa) of Marion, Iowa. Kenneth has nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, many stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Kenneth is also survived by his siblings, Francis H. Kimm of Keystone, Iowa, Marian R. Paulsen of Waterloo, Iowa, Earl Dean Kimm of Arkansas, Russell L. Kimm of Walford, Iowa, and Regina F. Wichmann of Homestead, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Alan, who was 56 years old and died in 2015; and his siblings, Dale P. Kimm of Blairstown, Dahlene P. Dellamuth of Blairstown, Harlan C. Kimm of rural Amana, Iowa, Stuart E. Kimm, who died in infancy, and Virginia L. Kimm, who died in infancy. A memorial gathering will be set at a later date.
