ACCIDENT IS FATAL TO SPRINGVILLE MAN
George W. Freeman, Pioneer Resident and Civil War Veteran; Dies Result of Injuries
Springville, Iowa, Aug. 6--George W. Freeman, wo met with an accident last Thursday while teaming, died at his home here Saturday night. The funeral was held from the Methodist church Monday at 2:30 p.m. conducted his pastor, Rev. H.C Culver, who gave a beautiful sermon from Psalm 23:4.
The deceased was born in Indiana and removed with his parent to Iowa when quite young. They settled in Springville in 1854, which has been his home with the exception of one year spent in Colorado. He was a member of Methodist church, also of the Wm. Carber Post, G.A.R. The members of the G.A.R. attended in a body and marched to the cemetery. Flags were used among the decorations of green and white. Mr. Freeman was seventy-one years old at the time of his death. He leaves a wife, one son, George Freeman, jr.; two half sisters, Mrs. Freeman of Marion and Mrs. Carnehan of Cedar Rapids, and one cousin, Wm. Freeman of Springville. There was a large attendance of neighbors and friends. Interment in Springville cemetery.
