Nancy Kathleen Goodlove, 76, of Central City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, surrounded by her loving family. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. A private funeral service will be held at United Church of Christ in Central City conducted by the Rev. Vicki Engelmann. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website tribute page for Nancy, under "photos and videos or media," starting at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 31. Burial will take place at Jordan's Grove Cemetery in Central City. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. For those not comfortable with attending the public visitation, the family is planning a Celebration of Life for the summer of 2021.
Nancy was born June 10, 1944, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the daughter of William and Hulda (Rolston) Bartine. She graduated from Clemons Consolidated High School and then received her bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Iowa and her master's from Marycrest College. On July 31, 1965, at the United Church of Christ in Clemons, Nancy was united in marriage to David Goodlove. Nancy was a teacher for over 40 years working at Linn-Mar Community Schools then Central City Community School District. After retiring, she volunteered at Central City Schools for several years.
Nancy was a very active member of United Church of Christ, where she served on the church council, was a part of the church choir for over 50 years, sang at many funerals and was a member of the Women's Fellowship. She also was a member and active with the Central City Historical Society, Central City Main Street Program and the Linn County Historic Preservation Board.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, David Goodlove; two daughters, Maria (Ron) McFadden of Atkins, Iowa, and Sara (Jay) Gallery of Troy Mills, Iowa; four grandchildren, Logan Pillard of Washington, D.C., Remington McFadden of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Jenna Gallery and Natalie Gallery, both of Cedar Rapids; and siblings, Jon Bartine of Houston, Texas, David (Angi) Bartine of Loveland, Colo., and Deborah (Richard) Jones of Clemons, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James Bartine and William Bartine II; and in-laws, Willard and Zella Goodlove.
Memorials in Nancy's memory may be directed to the family to benefit the Goodlove Scholarship at Central City High School.
