John R. Hay, 76, of 1324 K Ave. NE died Thursday at Mercy Hospital following a long illness.
Born Sept. 5, 1905, at Seattle, Wash., he was married to Essie Matyk on Dec. 28, 1946, at Marion. He was employed by Wilson Foods for 23 years before retirement and was a member of Hanford Post No. 5 of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans. He served in the Army during World War II.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one stepdaughter, Judith Alfans of Belfdrd, N.J.; one stepson, Gary Hilton of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Zachar of Cedar Rapids, Helen Harms of Wyoming and Nora Arns of St. Joseph, Mo.; and two brothers, Frank of Marysville, Kan., and Milo of Lakewood, Colo.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Brosh Chapel by Dr. George McDill. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 1 p.m. today. A memorial fund has been established.
