George R. Touro, 91, a retired farmer, formerly of Route 3 and a lifelong resident of the Marion community, died Friday in a Marion care center after a long illness.
He was born Dec. 5, 1886 at Marion. On Sept. 23, 1908 at Marion he was married to Mabel L. Benson, who resides at the care center where they both have lived for several years. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Marion.
Mr. Touro is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Roy Sorenson, Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. William Freitag Sr, North Highlands, Calif, two sons, Reginald, Cedar Rapids, and Lyle, Marion, eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services 11 a.m. Monday at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion by the Rev. Jay A. Miller. Burial Oak Shade Cemetery Friends may call at the Murdoch Chapel after 1 p.m. today Friends may, if they wish, contribute to the First United Presbyterian Church memorial fund.
