page 3: Funeral services were held Monday morning at ten o'clock at the Methodist church, in charge of Rev. L.C. Smith, for Fred Stinger, who passed away at his home at 2:40 a.m. Saturday, January 7 after an illness of one week. He was born in Linn county January 2, 1868, the son of Francis and Harriett Stinger, who preceded him in death. He was married to Bertha Oca, October 29, 1902, and to this union tow children were born, Francis, who lives on a farm near Springville, and Florence, of Strawberry Point. Mr. Stinger also had one daughter by a previous marriage, Leta Stinger Lewis, of Jacksonville, Fla. Those surviving are his children, his wife, Bertha Stinger, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Devere and Clell Port, Arlo Stinger, and Harve Lacock. Music was by Margaret Wells and Frederic Taylor, accompanied by Mrs. Ed Patten.
