John Raker, Engineer At Water Works, Dies On Job
John H. Raker, 424 Ninth avenue SW, an engineer at the city water works for 42 years, died suddenly while at work Sunday at 9:15 a.m. of a heart attack.
He was born in Verl, Germany, Oct 21, 1875 and came to Cedar Rapids 55 years ago. In 1900 he was married to Fannie Carlson who survives him.
He also leaves four children, Fred, Webster, William and Helen, all of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Henry Raker, of Oakland, Calif., and a sisters, Mrs. Barbara Moore of Indianapolis, Ind. A sister, Mrs. Katherine Roberts, preceded him in death in 1929.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Beatty chapel Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. by the Rev. F. H. Ward. Burial will be in the Cedar Memorial park.
