Roberto S. Hines, 68, of 1122 12th St. NE, died Saturday morning at his residence after a long illness.
He was born Feb. 18, 1910, in Clayton County and was married to Anna Lamphier, who died in 1966. On May 18, 1973, he was married to Arlene Holmes.
Hines farmed for 22 years in the Clayton County area before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1965. He was then employed by St. Luke's Hospital for 11 years. He was a member of the Ellis Park Church of God.
Survivors, besides his wife, Arlene, include three sons, Burnell of Toddville, Marcene of Paris, Iowa, and Deryl of Edgewood; two daughters, Phyllis Stahr, Cedar Rapids and Fern Pensel, of Colesburg; two stepsons, Gary Holmes of Arvana, Colo. And Mark Holmes of Anamosa; two stepdaughters, Verna Bell of Colorado Springs and Dianna Potter of Chicago; two brothers, Delbert of Center Point and Willis of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Charlotte Bacon of Cedar Rapids, Christilene McManigal of Oelwein and Josephine Bacon of Marion; 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. John Little and Vivian Phelps of the Ellis Park Church of God. Burial Cedar Memorial Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home after noon Monday and at the Chapel of Memories after 9 a.m. Tuesday. The casket will be closed before the services.
