A SUDDEN DEATH
Surrounded by the saddest of circumstances was the sudden demise of William Dunn of this city, who passed from this life after a very brief illness last Friday evening. But a very few weeks have elapsed since he with his wife had returned from the glowing state of California, where, as has been their habit for many years past, they had gone to spend the winter. To the greetings of many friends Mr. Dunn had responded, expressing great anxiety for his wife's apparently feeble health, never thinking of himself. Just a few days before his death he was seized with an illness that later developed into typhoid-pneumonia and eventually proved fatal. To make his illness and death still more sorrowful, Mrs. Dunn is lying very ill at their home, her recovery being considered by her friends very doubtful. The funeral was to have been from the residence, but the condition of Mrs. Dunn forbade that and the funeral procession proceeded at once to Oak Shade cemetery, where Elder Seaton conducted brief services. He was assisted by Elder Crippen.
He sketched in brief as follows Mr. Dunn's past life: "William Dunn was born in Pennsylvania, but removed early in life to Belmont county, Ohio. He was married to Phoebe C. Fall in 1848. They removed to Iowa in 1855 and have had a home in Marion ever since that time. He united with the Christian church early in life and has always lived a pure and upright life."
