The Rev. John D. Huber, Jr., 53, of 1150 Northview Drive, Marion, pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Marion, died of cancer Friday evening at his home.
He was born April 10, 1933, at Albany, Texas. On Aug. 10, 1958, in St. Louis, Mo., he married Maryann Freudenburg. He graduated from St. John's College in Winfield, Kan., in 1952, received his Master of Divinity from Concordia Seminary in St. Louis in 1957, and his Master of Sacred Theology from Christ Seminary-Seminex in 1974. He served as pastor of Christ Luthern church in Jackson, Miss. from 1957-1962; Christ Lutheran Church in Amarillo, Texas, from 1962-1967; St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion from 1967-1977; and had served Faith Lutheran Church from its formation in 1977.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, ; a son ; his father John D. of Vernon, Texas; and two sisters, Teeny Schmidt of Portland, Ore., and Liz Gallmeier of Houston.
Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Faith Lutheran Church in Marion, by the Rev. David Rebeck, the Rev. Gerald Freudenburg of Trinity Lutheran Church in Peoria, Illl., and Bishop Victor Brandt. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call at the Murdoch Chapel, Marion, from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday. The casket will not be open at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
