Mrs. Wm. Cook, wife of former country treasurer, Wm. Cook died Sunday evening.

The maiden name of the late Mrs. Wm. Cook was Mary Catherine Swayne. She was born in Valley Forge, February 5th, 1827. During her girlhood days her family moved to Delaware and then to Philadelphia where in her 21st year she was married to Wm. Cook.
Three years later Mr. and Mrs. Cook moved to Iowa and located in Jasper County where they resided nearly two years and then came to Marion near which the family home has been ever since. Mr. Cook was one of Linn County's leading citizens. He served as county treasurer. He died in 1904.
There were six children three of whom are living--Charles Henry whose home is in Pasadena, California. Mary Elizabeth who lives in Rolla, Missouri and Mrs. Marshall Swayne who with her husband live near Marion, and with whom Mrs. Cook made her home four years preceding her death.
She died Sunday morning April 6th. She was a splendid woman--a devoted christian-a member of the Society of Friends. Her memory will be cherished by hundred of devoted friends.
