Mrs. Jacob Kocher, Resident Here Sixty Years, Died Monday
Mrs. Jacob Kocher, pioneer Marion resident, passed away at her home, 760 Eighth street, Monday evening after a long illness. She was a Marion resident for sixty years.
Mrs. Kocher was born in Switzerland September 3, 1857, coming to America with her parents, Abraham and Mary Simmen, in her youth. The family established their new home near Alburnett.
As Elsie[sic] Simmen she was married to Jacob Kocher, July 2, 1875. They were the parents of four children. Two died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Louise Greer, died in 1922.
Mrs. Kocher is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Richard M. Funck of Duluth; one sister, Mrs. Mary Vahl of Marion, and one brother, Abraham Simmen of Alburnett. There are also two granddaughters, Miss Helen Greer of New Orleans and Virginia Funck of Duluth.
Funeral services were held this morning at 10 o'clock at the Yocom chapel with the Rev. W.E. Fisher of the Presbyterian church in charge. Interment was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
