Joseph A. Miles, Linn County Pioneer, Dies
Joseph Allen Miles, 86, a life-long Linn county resident, died Thursday at a Cedar Rapids hospital. A retired farmer, he had lived with his son, Glenn S. Miles, a mile southeast of Robins. He was married Dec. 31, 1880, to Rena Malum, who died March 31, 1883. On Feb. 2, 1887, he was married to Florilla Fishel, who died Feb. 22, 1922. Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Florence Sutera, Robins; Gage C. Miles, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Lella Pflughaupt, Central City, and Glenn S. Miles, route one, Marion; 10 grandchildren and sixteen greatgrandchildren. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren at Robins.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Yocom chapel. The Rev. C.V.R De Jong will officiate and burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
