Obituary of Mrs. M.L. Snell
May Emma Lilley was born Nov. 22, 1844 at Montgomery, Cane county, Ill. She was married at Oswego, Ill., Nov. 26, 1862, to M.K. Snell. To this union was born three children--W.H. Snell of Chicago, Mrs. George Sheppherd and Mrs. H.P. Coon of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado.
Mr. and Mrs. Snell moved to Marion in 1882 where they resided until Mr. Snell died which was March 12, 1900. Mrs. Snell then went to Savanna, Ill., and later returned to Marion,w here she spent the rest of her life until two years ago. She went west to live with her daughters in Colorado. For over fifty years she was a faithful member of the Congregational church. her sickness was of long duration. Over fourteen months she was confined to her bed, and all this time was cheerful, never complaining, and on the 20th of Dec. she passed peacefully to her reward.
The funeral services were conducted at the D.W. Pingrey undertaking parlors Sunday at 2 p.m. By Rev. C.F. Ensign.
Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Miss Goudy, Mrs. Frank Holmes, and Messrs. Jno. Thompson and Bert Sebern. Interment in Oak Shade cemetery.
