Obituary from the Thursday March 2, 1950 edition of the Cedar Rapids Gazette from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Edward J. Sykes, 72, of 211 Fifth street NW, a Cedar Rapids resident 44 years and a retired farm worker, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital at 12:45 a.m Thursday following a long illness. He was born Oct. 12, 1877, at Postville.
Surviving are a brother, Ben Sykes, a niece, Mrs. Frank Jones, with whom he made his home, and a grand-niece, Dr. Blanche Houser of Cedar Rapids.
Services will be conducted in the Turner chapel at 1:30 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. G.H. Bamford, pastor of Salem Evangelican United Brethren church. Burial will be in Linwood cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
