Catherine Serovy Charipar, wife of Joseph A. Charipar, died at the family home, 1640 Thirteenth street NE, on her fifty-sixth birthday at 9 p.m. Tuesday. She had just returned from the home of her son, Andrew, where she was guest of honor at a birthday dinner, when she was stricken with a heart attack.
She was born May 30, 1884 in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Serovy. She had resided in Cedar Rapids since her marriage to Joseph Charipar April 17, 1900.
In addition to her husband she is survived by the following children: Andrew J., Frank T., Mrs. Mary Paul, Mrs. Pauline Foster and the Misses Clara and Dorothy, all of Cedar Rapids. An infant son preceded her in death. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, two brothers, Frank Serovy of Ely, George Serovy of Cedar Rapids, and six sisters, Mrs. Fred Mally, sr., Mrs. Frank Kubovec, Mrs. Edward Cerny, Mrs. John Kuba of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. John Pavelka and Mrs. Frank Moel, both of Solon. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
