John Robert Northcott, a resident of Cedar Rapids before moving to Council Bluffs 12 years ago, died in Des Moines Monday evening following a sudden illness. He was born Jan. 25, 1913, at Waterville, Maine, and was married to Virginia Rezab on Aug. 20, 1938, at Oak Park, Ill. He was an employe of the Northwestern Bell Telephone co.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Patricia Ann and Susan Carol Northcott, of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Mrs. John B. Northcott of Cedar Rapids, and two sisters, Mrs. Russell Knapp of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Walter Staves of Van Nuys, Calif.
Mr. Northcott was a member of Broadway Methodist church at Council Bluffs. He was active in Red Cross work and had served as treasurer and as chairman of the board of the church. He was a Coe graduate.
Memorial services: Turner chapel at 1:30 p.m. Friday by Dr. Francis W. Pritchard. Burial: Oak Hill cemetery.
