Edith Evelyn White, 87, of Iowa City, formerly of Marion, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, in Oaknoll Retirement Residence, Iowa City, following a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, by the Rev. Timon Davison. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and four sisters.
Born July 25, 1912, in Marion, Iowa, to John and Josephine Wright Schminkey, she married Louis Mason White on June 26, 1939. He died in February 1987. For many years, Edith and her husband farmed near Viola before moving to Marion. She had made her home in Iowa City since 1986. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Marion.
