We refer with feelings of the deepest regret to the severe affliction of Mr. L.M. Ayers, of the Cedar Rapids Times. Only two months since his beloved wife was taken from him by death, and now he is again bereaved by the loss of his youngest child, Alta, a sweet little girl of four years. She died yesterday morning at 9 o'clock and was buried in the afternoon. The dreaded diseases, scarlet fever and diphtheria, combined to destroy her. The home made lonely through the death of the mother is rendered still more so now, and words are almost valueless to comfort the stricken father. Yet, having passed through kindred grief, we cannot refrain from adding our sympathy to that universally felt by the community.
