His obituary is in the Marion Pilot of Thursday November 29, 1894
John B. Gadbois, an old and respected citizen of Cedar Rapids and a soldier in the late civil war, died at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at his home, No. 58 First street West, Cedar Rapids. For twenty-three years he was in the service of the Milwaukee railway as a car repairer. Seven years ago he was caught between two cars and received injuries of a character from which he is believe never to have recovered. Deceased was born in Canada of French parents, was 71 years old and had resided in Cedar Rapids for about sixteen years. His death is mourned by his wife and six children. Of the latter one son, John and two daughters reside in this city, while there is one son in New York city. Mr. Gadbois was a man respected by all his acquaintances and his death will be a source of sorrow and grief to his friends. Funeral took place at Cedar Rapids on Monday afternoon. The deceased formerly resided in Marion and was a member in good standing of Marion Lodge No. 6, A.F. & A.M., which went to Cedar Rapids on Monday and conducted the funeral service.
