John W. Hanna, 76, of 1414 Fourth street NW, lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, died at University hospital, Iowa City, at 7:55 p.m. Saturday after a brief illness. Born Sept. 7, 1874, he was a painter by trade, formerly being employed by Johnson Gas Appliance Company.
Mr. Hanna was a charter member of St. James Methodist church.
Surviving are his wife, Anna; five children, William, Miss Grace Hanna, Mrs. Roy Howell and Mrs. Emerald Fisher, all of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Hobson Kauffman of Oakland, Calif., and three grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Polansky chapel by the Rev. Floyd Hinshaw of St. James Methodist church. Burial will be in Bohemian National cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
