Betty J. Burmeister, 81, of Center Point, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, May 16, 2008, in St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services at 3 PM Tuesday in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Rev. Mark Thomas of Central Assembly of God Church will officiate. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 4 to 7:30 PM on Monday and at the chapel after 2:30 PM on Tuesday.

Betty is survived by two daughters Karen Leonard Chapman, and Joan Harold Chapman all of Center Point, a son in law Robert Kearney of Cedar Rapids, a sister in law and brother in law Helen and Barney Rowold of Clarence, 8 grandchildren, Michael Tina Chapman of Walker, Jeff Becky Chapman of Center Point, Tonia Stuart Techau of Lisbon, Brandy Chapman and Rick of Florida, Ronnie Dawn Chapman of Mt. Vernon, Robin Sloan of Center Point, Steven Sue Kearney of Cedar Rapids, and Terry Mark Bader of Monticello, and 17 plus one due in September great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter Linda Kearney on July 18, 2006.

Betty was born April 3, 1927 in Cedar Rapids. She attended Roosevelt High School.

Betty Kemper married Harold Burmeister on October 28, 1944 at Salem Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids. Harold died May 19, 1998. Betty in her early years worked for Cedar Rapids Train Depot, Maid-Rite Shop, and Mays Drug Store. She was an inspector for National Oats working for them from 1943 to her retirement in 1983. She loved to read, listen to music, and dance. Betty and Harold formerly attended Central Assembly of God Church.

Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A memorial fund has been established in her name.
