G.E. Mudgett, 80, Veteran Milwaukee Man, Died Yesterday
George E. Mudgett, a long time resident of Marion and veteran employee of the Milwaukee railroad, died at his home Tuesday noon from a heart attack. HE was eight years of age and had been in ill health for some time.
For many years Mr. Mudgett was employed by the Milwaukee as a switchman and also in the car repair department. He was born at Low Moor, April 11, 1854 and in 1874 was married to Mary Jane Wolbridge. They came to Marion thirty-six years ago and had since made this city their home. Mrs. Mudgett died in 1920.
Surviving are a son, Frank, and one daughter, Mrs. Nettie Smith, both of Marion. A son, Oliver died in 1917. Surviving also is one sister, Mrs. Hattie Kerr of Battle Creek, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock on Friday, at the Yocom chapel, with the Rev. C.J. Biddle, pastor of the Christian church, in charge. Interment will be made in Oak Shade cemetery.
