STRANGER DIED ON STREET

Name of Victim of Sudden Death
Thought to be John Knowles

Special to the Daily Nonpareil
Cedar Rapids, Ia. March 7 – A man thought to be known as John Knowles was found dead on First Street and B Avenue, near the Mill Race about 6 o’clock last evening. Death was caused by acute alcoholism. Who the man was not known for certain, but it is evident he is a stranger in Cedar Rapids and probably a tramp.

It was about 6 o’clock when Allen D. Day of 117 North First Street, and Harry Golden of 410 Second Street east, saw a man staggering about near B Avenue and First Street. They watched him and saw him fall to the ground near the Mill Race, he made several attempts to rise to his feet, but finally lay still. Going over to where he lay they saw he was dead.
