Mrs. S.A. Parmenter Passed Away Today After Long Illness
Mrs. S.A. Parmenter passed away at her home, 312 Twelfth street, this morning at five o'clock, after an illness of eight weeks duration.
As Lydia Miller, the daughter of John and Lavina Miller, pioneer residents, she was born April 13, 1850 and spent her entire lifetime here.
On February 22, 1872, she was married to S.A. Parmenter in the house directly across the street from the home where they spent their lives together. In 1920 Mr. and Mrs. Parmenter celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mr. Parmenter died five years ago. One son Frank M., died at the age of 21.
Two daughters, Mrs. Burt Hollenbeck and Mrs. Charles T. Rose, both of Marion, and one sister, Mrs. John Fitch of Wichita, Kansas, survive. Mrs. Parmenter was a home loving woman, it was there she found her greatest joy in life.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:30 at the Yocom chapel, conducted by Dr. John M. Walters, pastor of the Methodist church, of which Mrs. Parmenter was a member.
