Carlton Owen Jr.
Carlton N. Owen, Jr., 69, of 621 31st St. SE, research chemist at Penick and Ford since 1924 died Saturday following a brief illness.
Born in Marion Aug. 12, 1896, he was married to Frances Yeaman in Sioux City Sept. 6, 1922. He was a life-long resident of Cedar Rapids and Marion and an army veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Schory of Boulder, Colo; a son, George C. Owen of Newton; a sister, Mrs. Norma Howell of Marion, and nine grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist church, Marion Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, Iowa Consistory and El Kahir Shrine. He received his M.S. degree at the University of Iowa in 1922 and was a member of the Theta Xi fraternity there.
Services were conducted at the Beatty-Beurle funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13 by Dr. Glenn W. McMichael. Burial was in Oak Shade cemetery, Marion.
Mr. Owen was the son of the late Carl N. and Bertha Lake Owen. Carl N. Owen was a druggist in Marion for many years.
Funeral services were held Sept. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at the Beatty-Beurle Funeral Home. Burial was in Oak Shade cemetery, Marion.
