George E. Joslin Dies; Veteran Masonic Leader
George E. Joslin, 87, of 117 N. McLean, died at St. Joseph Hospital Sunday at 4 a.m., following about one year of failing health.
The son of John and Rozella Pickler Joslin, he was born in Ottumwa on Aug. 29, 1879. He was a life-resident of Ottumwa and retired from the mechanical department of the Milwaukee Railroad in 1949, after working there 32 years. He married Maze Farley in 1912, in Ottumwa.
He joined Empire Lodge No. 269 A.F. & A.M. in Ottumwa in 1915, the Kaaba Shrine in 1917, and became a 32nd degree Mason in 1953. He was past president of the Ottuma Shrine Club, a life member of Kaaba Shrine, and a member of the Consistory, Clinton Chapter, and the Malta Commandery.
He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Surviving are his widow and one nephew, Russell Pickler of Ottumwa.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Jay Funeral Home with the Rev. James Postel of Trinity Episcopal Church officiating.
Burial will be Oak Shade Cemetery at Marion.
Masonic services will be conducted at the funeral home Monday at 7:30 p.m.
