Duane E. "Dick" Fetzer, who at the age of 31 already had made a name for himself as a Cedar Rapids civic worker, collapsed and died at about 6 p.m. Wednesday while playing golf at ELmcrest Country club.
Cause of his death was reported to be a heart attack...
Born at Ladora Dec. 26, 1922, he was married to Evelyn Hecht Sept. 15, 1944 at Victorville, Calif. He served as a bombardier in the army air forces in World war II.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, William Earl and James Floyd, both at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Fetzer of Ladora; two sisters, Mrs. Robert E. Brown and Mrs. Ralph Shail, both of Cedar Rapids, and a grandmother, Mrs. Myrtle Border of Ladora.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Beatty-Beurle chapel at 3:30 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. J. Richard Wagner and Mitpah Lodge. Burial will be in Cedar Memorial cemetery.
Friends may call at the chapel after 7 p.m . Thursday.
All Master Masons are asked to meet with Mizpah Lodge at the Masonic hall at 3 p.m. Saturday to attend the service.
