Joseph F. Fikejs, 78, of 1607 L street SW, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital at 2:15 p.m. Saturday after a brief illness.
Mr. Fikejs was born April 13, 1877, in Litomysl, Czechoslovakia, and came to the United States in 1894. He lived in this vicinity ever since. He retired in 1947 as custodian of the post office after 17 years of service.
Surviving him are his wife, Sophie Kvapil Fikejs; a daughter, Mrs. Robert Campbell of Glenn Rock, N.J.; two sons, Chalres J. and Ernest F., both of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, James Fikejs of Buckingham, Ia., and two brothers and a sister in Czechoslovakia.
He was a member of Lodge Ziskuv Dub, No. 91, ZCBJ.
Services will be held in the Kuba funeral home at a time to be announced later. Friends may call at the chapel.
