Frank W. Stepanek, 64, of 278 Twenty-fourth avenue SW, foreman in the maintenance department of the Cedar Rapids school system, died Saturday after a long illness.
Mr. Stepanek had been employed by the school board since 1929. He was born near Cedar Rapids Dec. 3, 1900, and was a lifelong resident of this area.
Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Brejcha, to whom he was married Feb. 7, 1922; a daughter, Mrs. M.C. Van Slyke of Cedar Rapids; two grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Ludwig Hemsky, Mrs. Lumir Blahnik, Mrs. Robert Janda, and Emma Morgan, all of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. William Votroubek of Marion; two brothers, Edward of Konigsmark, and William of Swisher. A daughter preceded him in death in 1936.
He was a member of Hanford Post of the American Legion; Jan Hus Lodge I.O.O.F.; Lodge Karel IV, Z.C.B.J.; Prokop Velky Lodge 137 C.S.A.; and the B.S.E.I. Union.
Memorial services: Janeba-Kuba funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday by Jerry Drahovzal. Burial: Czech National. Military graveside services by Hanford Post.
