Nancy Glover died at Marion, Iowa, Sept. 24th, 1893, aged 100 years, 4 months and 10 days.
Nancy Hill was born May 14, 1793, in Rollin, North Carolina. Moved to Tennessee from her native state where she met and married Miles Martindale Jan. 8, 1812. Moved to Indiana, where her husband died in 1833. She remained a widow for several years. She was married to Joshua Glover in 1838. They moved to Marion, Iowa in 1847, Mr. Glover dying in Marion in 1858. She has continued to live in Marion and vicinity since 1847. She was a mother of seven children, three living. She has nearly 50 grandchildren, and over 100 great grandchildren, and 100 great, great grandchildren and 30 to 40 great, great, great grandchildren. Mother Glover and her husband (Miles Martindale) joined the Christian church at "Old Union," on Eagle Creek, on the Old Collinsville road in Wayne county, Ind., in 1831. She was baptized by Elder Lockhart, in Eagle Creek. She has been a very faithful, consistent Christian to the day of her death. She has been a faithful wife, a kind and indulgent mother, a devoted Christian, and a sympathetic neighbor. "She has done what she could." She has made the world better by having lived in it.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.A. Seaton at the Christian church in this city, Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. J.A.S.
