The Marion Register Monday December 29, 1902
David Martindale died at Mapleton Saturday. He will be burried[sic] in Marion.

The Marion Pilot Thursday January 1, 1903
The remains of David Martindale who formerly resided on East Sixth avenue, arrived in the city Monday morning and were interred here. He died a Mapleton, where he had been living for some time.
