Services Held for Elizabeth Strother Wednesday P.M.
Elizabeth A. Strother, 1100 14th st., passed away at 11:10 a.m. Monday, July 1, at a Cedar Rapids hospital following a brief illness.
She was born July 1, 1873 on a farm northeast of Marion, the daughter of William and Nirah Mann Lacock. She was married Dec. 15, 1897 at her parents home in the Linn Grove neighborhood to Delbert H. Strother. He died on May 27, 1930 at Mitchell, S.D. where they were living at the time. Their only son, Claire Strother passed away in 1933 at Sioux Falls, S.D. Following his death she returned to Marion where she has resided since. She was a member of the Presbyterian church at Mitchell, S.D.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Lora Simpson with whom she made her home. A brother, Leroy Lacock passed away June 1, 1956 at Mt. Vernon, Iowa.
Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m .Wednesday, July 3 at the Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Jean P. Hauter. Interment was in Linn Grove cemetery. Bearers were Millard Lacock, Dale Strother, Louis Strother, Merle McConaughy, Richard Strother and Glenn Strother.
