H.G. Chalfant of 1274 Fourth avenue, a well known resident of this city passed away in St. Luke's hospital Sunday morning at ten o'clock. Mr. Chalfant was ill some time ago and infection had developed, so before he was operated on, it is said, he had reached a critical stage in the disease.
