Clarence K. Hiebert passed away at 3 a.m. Thursday, June 24 at his farm home on Route 2, Central City. The son of David D. and Kathryn Wall Hiebert, he was born May 23, 1913 at Hampton, Neb. He came to Linn County about 1940. He entered the U.S. Army on July 5, 1942 at Jefferson Barracks, Mo. and served in the Sicilian, Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. He received the Purple Heart medal for wounds suffered Aug. 22, 1944 in France.
On Jan. 8, 1947 he was married to Mary Wright at Cedar Rapids. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Terry Ray and Charles Kent Hiebert at home and four sisters, Mrs. Emil (Bertha) Senff of Bradshaw, Neb., Mrs. Ray (Emma) Ellis of York, Neb., Mrs. Dora Herbig of Rock Island, Ill. and a twin sister, Mrs. Clarence (Florence) Peterson of Aurora, Neb.
Services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 26 at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Clyde C. Scott. Soloist was Rev. Jack Burt. Interment was in Oak Shade Cemetery.
