L.C. Harlan Is Dead; Spent 71 Years Here
L.C. Harlan, 72, died at 9:50 a.m. today at his home, 1975 Seventh avenue, following a illness of more than three years. All of his life was spent in Marion with the exception of one year, when he lived in Texas. The son of Willard and Sarah Harlan, Mr. Harlan was born in Marion Nov. 7, 1856. He is the last survivor of a family of five children. He was married Oct. 1, 1880, to Lucy Hoover of near Marion and eight children were born to them. One son died in infancy. Mr. Harlan followed the painter and paper hanger's trade. Besides his widow he is survived by five sons and two daughters, P.G. of Marion; Mrs. Mae Goldstein, Chicago; Bertha, Harry, Marshalltown; O.R., Charles and Donald, all of Marion, and five grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
