The Marion Register Wednesday October 2, 1895
James Eugene, infant son of Charles and Rebecca Dumont was laid to rest Saturday, September 21. The little fellow was a bright beautiful child, nine months old, the joy of the home. Always strong, his absence is the unforshadowed. A serious illness of but a few hows[sic], though it was preceded by whooping cough, closed the flashing eyes and prattling lip. Services were held at the home conducted by the pastor Rev. J.G. Van Ness, and the little human bud in God's Acre, to unfold and blossom in the heavenly garden. Mr. and Mrs. Dumont have the sympathy of all in their sorrow. V.
