Death of Mrs. Burkdoll[sic].
Catherine Myers was born in Franklin Co., Penn., Jan. 3rd, 1826. During her early childhood her parents removed to Canton, Ohio, which was her home for 20 years. She was married in Canton to James Ellison, and to them was born one child, a girl. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Ellison removed in 1840 to Marion, where she has since resided. She was here married in 1859 to Abraham Burkdholl. She was 50 years a member of the Marion Christian church, and was actively associated in the building of the old brick church.
Mrs. Burkdoll died Monday morning, May 9, at 4 o'clock, after a long and very painful illness. She leaves four grandchildren: Miss Addie Ellithorpe, of Marion, who has for some years been her companion, and during all her illness a constant and devoted nurse; Mrs. Jessie Gamlish, of Montrose, Col.; Ulysses and James Ellithorpe, of Bennett, Nebraska.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at her late home in this city, being conducted by Rev. G.E. Wingate, pastor of the Christian church.
