Obituary.
James Elihue Ives, son of John and Jane Ives, was born Jan. 16, 1854, in Linn Co., Iowa, where he resided his entire life. For almost thirty years he had been an invalid, requiring the almost constant care of his parents. His father preceded him through the valley of the death-shade about three years since; also one sister, who died in infancy. His death occurred at his mother's home in Marion, July 26, 1905. He leaves a devoted mother and a large number of relatives to mourn his loss. In early boyhood he confessed Christ and became a member of the Marion Baptist church. He was always true to Christ, and as long as his health permitted was faithful to the church.
His funeral was conducted from the home, July 28, 1905, by his pastor, S.P. Shaw, assisted by Rev. R.D. Campbell, and interment was in the Oak Shade cemetery.
