Death of Robt. Shinn.
Kent, Washington, July 31st, 1895.
L.P. BARDWELL, ED. PILOT:
Robt. C. Shinn died at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. John M. Blanchard, in Kent, Washington, July 27th, 1895.
He was born near Clarksburg, Harrison County, West Virginia, Aug. 29th, 1812; went to Illinois when twenty-one years old; five or six years later went to Marion, Iowa, where he lived till 1871 when he went to Washington.
He was married in 1840 to Martha N. Willis. She died in Seattle, Washington, in 1884[sic].
Of the children who lived beyond infancy Mrs. Addie M. Wright died in California in 1882, Wm. J. Shinn and Hattie E. Blanchard are living in Kent; Lucy D. Brown lives in Seattle.
He found great comfort in reading the Marion PILOT.
He took a warm interest in all the old friends in Marion and has in the past few years mourned for many of them as they passed away.
