Friends Are Stunned By Sudden Death of O.L. Brown

Orville L. Brown, 63, of Sprinvgille, was instantly killed Tuesday afternoon at five o'clock, when the oil truck he was driving overturned on the gravel highway, near Central City, when the brakes failed to hold on a down grade.
The accident was witnessed by a farmer in a nearby field, who found Mr. Brown dead when he arrived at the scene of the tragedy.
Mr. Brown, who was a former Marion man and well known here, was a native of Linn county and attended Cornell college. For many years he was engaged in real estate business in Marion and also in Des Moines, where he held a responsible position with a holding company. The family lived in Cedar Rapids several years and in Marion until about three years ago, when they moved to Springville, where Mr. Brown with his son, was manager of the Vickers distributing plant.
Surviving are his wife, Ava Kinney Brown, one son Robert, a daughter, Mrs. Eugene Alleman of LaGrange, Ill.; two grandchildren, Barbara and John Alleman, a brother, J. Willis Brown of Springville, and two sisters, Mrs. W.J. Goodyear of Marion and Mrs. Clyde T. Plummer of Martelle.
Funeral services will be held Friday, a private service at the home at 1:30 p.m., followed by services at the Springville Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. John M> Walters, pastor of the local Methodist church, assisted by the Rev. James Gallagher of Springville, will officiate. Interment will be made in Oak Shade cemetery in Marion.
