16 May 1889 - The Tipton Advertiser

Bloom. -- At the residence of her parents, Lisbon, Iowa, on May 10th, 1889, of pneumonia, Minnie May Bloom, aged 19 years, 9 months and 22 days.

Minnie will be remembered by many of our people here as the afflicted daughter of Rev. J. K. Bloom, who was formerly pastor of the Lutheran church at this place. In early infancy, from a severe and persistent attack of pneumonia, the function of one lung was entirely destroyed, causing thereby constant suffering. Yet her patient, uncomplaining and cheerful disposition enabled her, in a great measure, to hide from the world the afflictions of her life. Day by day she grew weaker and more weary of her painful pilgrimage, and in the early dawn of a beautiful May morning she sweetly fell asleep in Him who, through life, was her comfort and support.

The funeral occurred at Lisbon on Sunday, May 12th, at 8 p.m., being conducted by Rev. I. J. Delo, assisted by Rev. W. A. Lipe, of Cedar Rapids and was very largely attended.
