Marion Weekly Sentinel Thursday July 11, 1918
Sunday afternoon at 2:30, the funeral services of Mrs. Thomas Flanigan were held from Pingrey's chapel, with the Rev. A.H. Hanscom of the Methodist church, officiating. Mrs. Flanigan has been in failing health for about three months but had not been confined to her bed until about two weeks previous to her death, which occurred Friday, July 5, at the home of her son and only child, Clarence F. Flanigan of Chicago. Since the death of her husband, Dec. 19, 1912, the deceased has made her home in Chicago. She was born in Vermont, Nov. 3, 1838, so was in her eightieth year. With her husband, Mrs. Flanigan came to Marion in 1894 and they owned and conducted a hotel bearing their name, on East Sixth avenue. During her eighteen years residence here she made many friends, whose sympathy is extended to her son and family. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
