Fred M. Srack, 66, Veteran Carpenter, Died Tuesday Eve
Fred M. Srack, carpenter in Marion for 32 years, died Tuesday evening at 8:20 o'clock at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. Jack Lisk, on South Tenth street, Marion.
He was born August 1, 1874, at Elk City, Kansas, the son of Robert B. and Amy Blanchard Srack, and before coming to Marion resisted[sic] at Hillsdale, Mich., and for eight years was carpenter, foreman for the Lake Shore railroad, and had worked all over that system. He was a capable and conscientious workman, and was never without a job. He was married at Hopkinton on June 24, 1908, to Sadie Guthrie. His wife preceded him in death May 9, 1939. Their one son, Junior, died September 30, 1921, at the age of 12. Other survivors are a brother, James Srack of Riverside, Calif., and two sisters, Mrs. Alma Baccus of Pawhuska, Okla., and Mrs. Manda Wallet, of Phoenix, Ariz., and a nephew, Joe Walker, of Marion.
Mr. Srack was an attendant of the Marion Baptist church where the funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at two o'clock, with the Rev. L.W. Inman, the pastor, in charge, assisted by the Rev. Frank Ward, of Sunshine Mission. Burial will be made in Oak Shade cemetery.
