Services Were Held Wednesday For B.H. Ford
B. Harry Ford, a brick mason, 522 Seventh ave., passed away at ?:20 p.m. Sunday, April 24, 1955 at a Cedar Rapids hospital following a brief illness.
Born August 5, 1890 at Garwin, the son of Milton and Adilade[sic] Furrow Ford, he was reared at Garvin and attended Milton college at Milton, Wis.
On November 4, 1914 at Marion he was united in marriage to Miss J. Myrtle Carver and with the exception of three years in Ithica, N.Y. and one year in Garwin, Ia., they have lived in Marion. He was a member of the Church of God in Marion and for several years he served the church as an elder.
Surviving in addition to his wife are six children: Eleanor Ford, Leighton W. Ford, Doris Ford, Mrs. Donald (Phyllis) Scheer, Mrs. Lee (Reva) Dice, all of Marion and Cpl. Lynn Ford with the U.S. Army at Camp McClelland, Alabama. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, a brother, Richard Ford, El Monte, Cal. and three sisters, Mrs. James (Gertrude) Bennehoff, Alfred, N.Y.; Mrs. Dwight (Bessie) Stewart, Raymond, Ill.; and Mrs. Thomas (Leonra)[sic] Winter, Dysart. A son, 1st Lt. Russell G. Ford, with the U.S. Air Corps was lost during World War II.
Memorial services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Murdoch chapel by Pastor Allen Bond and Elder W.T. McMicken. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
